Introduction

BharatExotics is an e-commerce website, a portal for stamp collectors and philatelic enthusiasts across the globe. The aim is to provide an information hub supporting the latest philatelic news, views and events from across India and the rest of the world to further the field of philately.

Problem statement/ Mission

Despite the growing interest in philately, users struggle to find and purchase rare and unusual stamps online due to a lack of reliable platforms. Our website aims to provide an easy and trustworthy online marketplace for these unique stamps, enhancing the user experience and making rare stamp acquisition accessible to all enthusiasts.

How I am helping BharatExotics scale

In my role at BharatExotics, my primary focus has been on enhancing the user experience to boost our user retention rate, a key metric for any online platform. To achieve this, I've implemented several UX strategies that have successfully increased our retention rate by 40%.

First, I emphasized usability, ensuring our platform is user-friendly and intuitive. This involved refining the website's design, simplifying navigation, and making the checkout process seamless. By reducing friction points, we were able to encourage users to return to our platform more frequently.

Secondly, I introduced personalization features, tailoring the user experience to individual preferences and needs. By using data-driven insights, we were able to suggest products that align with each user's specific interests, thereby enhancing their engagement with the platform.

Lastly, I prioritized customer feedback, using it as a tool to continuously iterate and improve the platform. By listening to our users and incorporating their suggestions, we've not only made our platform better but also made our users feel heard and valued. This has significantly contributed to increasing the rate at which users return to our platform.

By deploying these UX strategies, I've been instrumental in helping BharatExotics scale and strengthen its position in the market.

Naming and Brand identity

The company's name and its associated brand values are of utmost importance. After brainstorming various naming options, I decided on BharatExotics. Subsequently, I developed the brand's logo and design guidelines, drawing inspiration from the distinctive perforation of a stamp to symbolize our business's focus. I recently updated the design language of the website and refreshed the logo for a more contemporary appeal. Throughout the website, I have employed the neubrutalism design approach.

The logo design was guided by a desire for simplicity and an abstract representation of our brand's core focus: stamps. I chose to incorporate a key element of a stamp—the perforation—into the logo. We've selected Poppins and Archivo as the standard fonts for the website. The logo's shape subtly suggests the letter 'E', which intentionally remains in the full logo, serving as a unique and identifiable logomark.
